"Wao Akua: Sacred Source of Life" Commemorates
Centennial of Hawaii's Forest Reserves

HONOLULU — "Wao Akua: Sacred Source of Life," published by the Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW), is now available is stores on all islands in time for holiday gift-giving.

“The book is a final tribute to our irreplaceable native forests as we bring the Year of the Hawaiian Forest to a close, ” said Jolie Wanger, Information and Education Specialist for DOFAW and Project Director for Wao Akua.

“The book incorporates the writings and photography from a diversity of people whose perspectives give life to the story of Hawaiian forests.”

There will be a launching party and book signing at Native Books/Na Mea Hawaii at Ward Warehouse on Sun. 12/14 from 3-5 p.m.

"Wao Akua: Sacred Source of Life" will be available at the following retail locations by December 13:
