| HONOLULU — Nominations are still being accepted for a newly-added seventh member of the State Commission on Water Resource Management that was established by Act 184, Session Laws of Hawaii 2003. The new commissioner should have substantial experience in water resource management, expertise in traditional Hawaiian water resource management techniques, and in traditional Native Hawaiian water rights as provided in ß174C-101, Hawaii Revised Statutes. Term of office is from July 1, 2003, expiring June 30, 2007. Nominations along with resumes may be sent by October 13, 2003 to: the Nominating Committee, Commission on Water Resource Management, P.O. Box 621, Honolulu, Hawaii 96809. All names submitted to the nominating committee will be kept confidential. "The State Legislature recognized in Act 184 that Native Hawaiian
water rights are a key element of the State Water Code, and that expertise
in this area will benefit the functioning of the Water Commission,"
said Peter Young, Chairperson of the State Water Commission, There are a total of seven members on the Commission, who each serve a four-year term. Two are ex-officio (by virtue of office) members and five are appointed by the Governor from lists submitted by a nominating committee, subject to confirmation by the Senate. ### For more information, contact: Deborah Ward |
