DLNR Seeks Bidders for Wailua River
Restaurant Concession

LIHUE — The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) is inviting interested persons to bid on a concession to operate a full service restaurant at building “B” in the state’s Wailua Marina/River State Park. Prospective bidders are invited to a site inspection tour at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 28 at the park. DLNR Parks staff will be on hand to answer questions.

Notices of intention to bid on the concession must be received by DLNR Division of State Parks on, or before 2 p.m., March 7, 2005. These must be accompanied by a completed qualification questionnaire.

Sealed bid proposals will be received up to and opened at 2 p.m. on March 28, 2005 in the State Parks division office in Honolulu. The start of the concession lease will be June 1,2005. The lease term is 15 years.

Wailua River State Park is located off Kuhio Highway along the Wailua River in East Kaua‘i. Boat excursions depart from Wailua Marina to Fern Grotto. The park features scenic vistas of ‘Opaeka‘a Falls and Wailua Falls and the Wailua River valley, remains of heiau (religious sites), a pu‘uhonua (place of refuge) and birthstones of this once important seat of chiefly power in old Hawaii.
