The Commission on Water Resource Management is currently seeking to fill two (2) civil service positions: Information Technology Specialist III, and Engineering Technician V or VI; and one (1) non-civil service position. At this time, recruitment for these positions will be continuous until filled.

- Engineering Technician V or Engineering Technician VI: The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of complex sub-professional technical duties in support of the Commission's professional engineering and hydrological functions. This is a civil service position and recruitment for this vacancy may apply to other state agencies. Qualification for Level V or VI will depend on education and experience.
- Geologist I: The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the assistant geologist in Water Resource Investigation Section of the Commission on Water Resource Management and in support of the Department. The function of the Section is to conduct surveys, research and investigations into the occurrence of ground and surface water and water use, proposed water management area designations; to enforce the provisions of the State Water Code; and provide geological and hydrological assistance to other branches within the Commission on Water Resource Management, and to other divisions within the Department, and other state agencies when necessary.
- Geologist II: The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the principal geologist in the Commission on Water Resource Management and consulting geologist for the Department. The position is responsible for the overall operations of the Water Resource Investigation Section, including planning and directing scientific and hydrologic investigations and studies relating to water and mineral resources, project development and engineering design and construction. Within the Department, the position consults and advises on the geological interpretation of volcanic formations on state lands, landslide and other natural hazards, and the hydrogeological interpretation of ground- and surface-water resources and movement.
- Information Technology Specialist III: The function of this position is to provide cartographic and spatial data analyses and other diagrammatic plans and services in support of division programs through the use and implementation of the State Geographical Information System (GIS).

- Hydrologist III, IV, V & VI: This position processes water use permit applications and petitions for ground water management area designations; maintains the water use permit database tracking system; assists in the processing of well constructions and pump installation permit applications; conducts field investigations for ground water related issues and complaints; assists with hydrological and geological investigations; and assists in establishing minimum standards for constructions of wells, installation of pumps and pumping equipment.
