Announcing the winners of the 2003 Hawaii Wildlife Stamp Contest.
The Division of Forestry and Wildlife would like to thank all of the artists who entered this year's Wildlife Stamp Art Contest. We hope you will consider entering next year's contest. Here are photos of the winning entry and of the two runners-up.

WINNER This painting of nene by Joy Keown was the winner. Ms. Keown can be contacted at joykeown@hotmail.com Joy Keown graduated from Emporia State University, Kansas, with a B.S. and M.S. in biology. She taught biology and physiology at Torrington High School in Wyoming for fourteen years and recently retired. She worked as a park-ranger naturalist in Yellowstone National Park for eight summers. As a young woman, she won the Art-Instruction course and completed the course in graphic design. She has co-authored and illustrated two children's books. Her artwork appeared in the Eastern Wyoming College publication "Westering." She has received "best-of-show" in serveral art exhibits as well as numerous other awards. Her work has sold in several galleries around Yellowstone Park. She also did an "Arts in the Parks" program in Yellowstone. Joy works primarily in watercolor, acrylics and pen and ink, to share her love of the natural world. |
