HAWAI'I ISLAND BURIAL COUNCIL RESPONSE TO THE MARCH 1, 2005 LETTER FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF INTERIOR- HAWAI'I VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK
Information: Discussion of the HIBC's response letter to Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park confirming the HIBC's desire to be involved in the NAGPRA process relative to items taken form a cave in Kawaihae, Kohala known as the "Forbes Cave", and currently in the possession and control of Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park.
BURIAL TREATMENT PLAN FOR SITE 6332 FEATURE B, AND SITE 23915 KAHULUI 2ND AHUPUA'A, NORTH KONA DISTRICT, HAWAI'I ISLAND [TMK (3) 7-5-19:01]
Information: Discussion of correspondence from the Department of Land and Natural Resources to the landowner's representative reflecting the HIBC's decision in May 2005 to preserve the burials in Site 6332 Feature B and Site 23915 in place.
Pursuant to §92-3, HRS, all interested persons shall be afforded an opportunity to present oral testimony or submit data, views or arguments, in writing on any agenda item. A request to be placed on a burial council agenda must be made with the Burial Sites Program staff at least two weeks preceding the scheduled meeting date. In addition, the request must be accompanied by all related documentation. Failure to comply with this procedure will delay your item to the following month's agenda.
Materials related to items on the agenda are available for review at the State Historic Preservation Division at 555 Kakuhihewa Building, 601 Kamokila Boulevard, Kapolei, Hawai'i 96707, and will also be available at the meeting. Disabled persons requiring special assistance should contact our office in advance at (808) 692-8015.
Lunch will be provided for Council Members as an integral part of this meeting.
